Sending an SMS Text message
Send text messages via email
Now even iPod Touch users can send SMS text messages— by sending an email to the recipient’s phone number.
Email-to-SMS Gateways
Many mobile phone carriers provide a means to relay SMS messages via email (an Email-to-SMS gateway).
When you choose a recipient’s phone number in Maildash, you also choose its corresponding mobile carrier.
Maildash uses this information to create SMS email addresses.
When you click Maildash’s “Send” or “Reply” buttons,
your SMS messages are sent via the iPhone’s Mail app.
You’ll also receive replies to your Maildash SMS messages via the iPhone’s Mail app.
What if a Carrier is not listed?
Maildash comes with nearly 100 gateways.
If Maildash does not list a particular carrier gateway,
you can add the mobile provider yourself (as seen in the screens at left).
You may also edit carrier Email-to-SMS addresses which may have changed.
Will Maildash ever support “real” (native) SMS?
Yes! Maildash 2.0 can send native SMS messages via the iPhone 3.0 Messages app.
